Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949 is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a speaker, consultant, columnist syndicated to a speaker as an author, author, and television show host. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she started. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran soon exited the company. Corcoran has been a part of 12 of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. She has participated in 53 deals as of February 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment that will cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran, who was the second of 10 children from a Catholic family with a low-income was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He moved between jobs and the next during Corcoran’s childhood. Sometimes, the family relied on the delivery of food for free from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father, who was a drunk at times too much and behaved towards her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, particularly after he'd consumed several drinks. Corcoran struggled throughout her schooling before discovering that she was dyslexic. Corcoran started the high school system at St. Cecilia High School Englewood, after she left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran completed her studies at Leonia High School with a diploma in English, despite not completing several classes in her first year.
